Eric Nyffeler

E Nyffeler

Let’s hope Eric Nyffeler’s rock-and-roll dreams never come true. He claims he would abandon the proverbial easel for the musical stage any day, and that would be a shame for us all. Eric’s graphic design prowess shines throughout his clever work, which ranges from shock rock posters to downtrodden fruit illustrations. Fall in love with this artist from America’s Heartland below.

1. How would you describe your work in three words?
No-coast ephemera.

2. Who is your creative role model?
Kurt Vonnegut. No one else in the world can make me laugh, cry and feel inspired at the same instant.

3. If you had an extra hour each day what would you do with it?
High-five all my friends, lovers and supporters.

4. What place in the world most inspires you and why?
Wherever I am. I try to be happy with what I have.

5. If you could do a different job for a day what would it be and why?
I think I’d like to be a librarian. I love old ladies and the smell of books.

6. What is your favorite homemade gift to give?
A scotch and water.

7. What is your favorite object in your home?
My roommate’s cat. He’s a good cuddler (the cat, not the roommate).

8. What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
“Do better.” It sounds sort of silly and simple, but if you say it enough times it takes on sort of a Zen quality.

9. What websites do you use for inspiration?
I Love Dogs, Book Worship, Craigslist.

10. When do you consider a piece of your work complete?
Usually ten minutes after the deadline or when it finally makes me laugh…whichever comes first.

I like these answers. Eric is a good guy and his beard looks like my dryer’s lint trap.
