1. How would you describe your work in three words?
Intricate, layered, organic.
2. Who is your creative role model?
I have a few creatives I look up to, I was always a fan of Gerrard Richter, Murakami, Vaughan Oliver, Pavel Tchelichev, Dan Waterston, Simon Larbalister. They are varied, but they all have had a profound effect on the way I look at design and art.
3. If you had an extra hour each day what would you do with it?
Catch up on everything I missed, whether that’s design, family or getting outside and just doing something.
4. What place in the world most inspires you and why?
London, ever since I went to school there, I always look forward to going back. It inspires me because of the energy and variety. I know I live in New York, but there is something comforting about London to me, I have my routine there and it always energizes me when I come back. I also find inspiration in the quiet places, and there are a few of them. Places don’t inspire me as much as experiences, memories and emotions.
5. If you could do a different job for a day what would it be and why?
Im not sure, my hobby is also my career. I guess a second to that would be making food, I love food, making it and eating it.
6. What is your favorite homemade gift to give?
see above
7. What is your favorite object in your home?
A book, any book, my watches and cameras.
8. What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Be one step ahead, have confidence and it will all work out.
9. What websites do you use for inspiration?
Graphic Exchange, Behance Network are the main sites, and now I have found 10 Answers!
10. When do you consider a piece of your work complete?
Thats a tough one, I always feel like I cant stop.
I take some time away from my work and then come back to it and make changes, sometimes I delete stuff when I feel like I am not progressing past the last piece and try to approach it a little differently.
I always have problems when doing music packaging where the cover have to be complete well in advance of the rest of the package, by the time I get to the end of the design, I feel like I need to redo the cover and by then its too late. Things evolve with time and as you build a visual language it morphs and becomes more confident.
