Central America, India, and East Asia are just some of the places that inspire clothing designer Morgan Carper. Through her myriad travels, Morgan has learned from local artisans and incorporated their culture and craft into her eponymous high-end womenswear label. She complements her cosmopolitan designs with funky details, like intricate beading or a bold print, making them ideal for any occasion. Explore Morgan’s world through her 10 ANSWERS below.

1. How would you describe your work in three words?
Traveled. Earthy. Bohemian.

2. Who is your creative role model?
I’m not sure I have any role models per se.  However, I am inspired by women like Frida Kahlo & Georgia O’Keeffe for their chic style, and independent, progressive visions.

3. If you had an extra hour each day what would you do with it?
From spring to fall, I would take an evening bike ride with my husband through Brooklyn.  In the winter, I would nap.

4. What place in the world most inspires you and why?
The desert.  Being in the middle of nowhere surrounded by the vast and open landscape is incredible beautiful to me. I am completely moved by a neutral palette with bold pops of color.

5. If you could do a different job for a day what would it be and why
A chef.  Being expressive yet technical is a must for me. And of course preparing delicious food and sharing it with those you love is about as good as it gets.

6. What is your favorite homemade gift to give?
You know, I don’t give enough homemade gifts, but this question has inspired me to do so. Thanks.

7. What is your favorite object in your home?
My set of vintage white Bertoia chairs.

8. What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Follow your dreams and believe in yourself. This seemed much easier when I was young and fearless!

9. What websites do you use for inspiration?
I mainly use print for inspiration, but I do find myself perusing these sites when I should be working: lonnymag.com, sunday-suppers.com and style.com.

10. When do you consider a piece of your work complete?
When I stop obsessing over ways to make it stronger, I step back et viola! Finished!
