1. How would you describe your work in three words?
Refined, thoughtful, fun.

2. Who is your creative role model?
Matisse. In the words of his rival, friend, and confidant, Pablo Picasso, “All things considered, there is only Matisse.”

3. If you had an extra hour each day what would you do with it?
Read.

4. What place in the world most inspires you and why?
Buenos Aires. When I landed in Buenos Aires for a four-month work exchange, I was expecting to take a taxi to an unknown address. Instead, I was greeted with a huge sign held by the entire family (including a baby and a grandpa) of my only contact there. And as we approached my temporary home, they pointed out all of the amazing restaurants nearby. I think that first day sums up why I love Argentina so much. The warm, familial, welcoming nature of the culture combined with the out-of-this-world empanadas make it a place that will always make me happy and hungry!

5. If you could do a different job for a day what would it be and why?
A florist. Nothing makes me happier than a simple bouquet of tulips.

6. What is your favorite homemade gift to give?
It completely depends on the person. For some people, chocolate chip cookies are the perfect gift. For others (like my little sister), a photo album of quirky childhood memories hits the spot. I think the best part of a homemade gift is how it’s personalized for the recipient.

7. What is your favorite object in your home?
Photographs of New York that my grandfather took as a teenager. I love them (and him) so much that I rearrange them constantly to make sure I have the perfect view of the Empire State Building, Fifth Avenue and the 1939 World’s Fair through his eyes. It’s amazing how so many things have changed in New York, and how so many things have stayed exactly the same.

8. What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Don’t be afraid to ask a lot of questions.

9. What websites do you use for inspiration?
The New York Times. It always leads to me to an unexpected discovery.

10. When do you consider a piece of your work complete?
When there is nothing left to take away.

I really like what you post here. Very insightful and intelligent. One problem though. I’m running Opera with Debian and parts of your current layout pieces are a little wonky. I realize it’s not a typical set up. Yet it’s something to keep in mind. I hope that it will help and continue to keep up the top quality writing.
